Behind the Fence: Israeli Settlers - an Unfiltered Conflict Tour in the West Bank

Behind the Fence: Israeli Settlers Let go of your biases, and see what happens for real, with our signature Unfiltered West Bank tours by Wild-Trails! We hear a lot from the media about the settlers and the West Bank in general, but very few people take the step to actually visit. With this West Bank tour, we wanted to give you an insight into life in the Israeli settlements, without making a statement. These are real people living in a real place, much like their Palestinian neighbors. On this tour we will learn about life in the settlements, particularly the infamous Maon Farm, which has received a lot of media coverage and is considered a symbol of the Israeli settlements. We know these West Bank tours might be controversial, but we believe that borders do not exist between humans and that cultural exchange is the only way to build bridges between people. That’s what makes traveling a tool to change the world and make it a better place. This means interacting with both sides, without casting judgment. We trust that once you experience this tour you can decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and learn that things are more complex than they seem. We greatly recommend completing the experience by also booking Behind the Fence: Palestinian Bedouins, another one of our unfiltered West Bank tours, looking into the lives of the Palestinians living on Mount Hebron. You can book the two tours on two separate days, or you can go for the comprehensive Fence Facing Fence tour, accompanied by Gilad Sade, an expert in travel to conflict zones around the world. In addition to visiting the Israeli settlers and Palestinian Bedouins, this tour also includes visits to other key sites on Mount Hebron.

Behind the Fence: Palestinian Bedouins - an Unfiltered Conflict Tour in the West Bank

Behind the Fence: Palestinian Bedouins Get behind the fence, and make a real, personal connection with the Palestinian Bedouins! With this tour we wanted to give you an insight into life in the villages of the Palestinian Bedouins on Mount Hebron, without making a statement. These are real people living in a real place, and we want you to really meet them, without the media’s spin. This is how we do our Unfiltered West Bank tours.    The Bedouins on Mount Hebron live a little differently than those in other parts of the Middle East. They are no longer nomadic, nor do they live in the desert. Instead, they’ve adapted their customs to life on the mountain, with its cooler climate and greener flora, where they live in extreme proximity to Israeli Settlements, only separated by a fence. During this cultural experience we will sit in their tent, drink sweet tea, and have an open chat. We will have a tour of their village, and see how they live day to day. We know our West Bank tours might be controversial, but we believe that borders do not exist between humans, and that cultural exchange is the only way to build bridges between people. That’s what makes traveling a tool to change the world and make it a better place. This means interacting with both sides, without casting judgment. We trust that once you experience our West Bank tours you can decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and learn that things are more complex than they seem. We greatly recommend completing the experience by also booking Behind the Fence: Israeli Settlers, another Unfiltered West Bank tour looking into the lives of the settlers living on Mount Hebron. You can book the two tours on two separate days or you can go for the comprehensive Fence Facing Fence Tour, accompanied by Gilad Sade, an expert in travel to conflict zones around the world. In addition to visiting the Israeli settlers and Palestinian Bedouins, this tour also includes visits to other key sites on Mount Hebron.

Fence Facing Fence

Join us for an unfiltered excursion deep into the heart of the world's most infamous conflict. On this tour you'll visit unrecognized Israeli and Palestinian villages, speak with the inhabitants, and gain an understanding of the conflict without the media’s propaganda. Media platforms, politicians, and even the UN cannot give you what we can: a real, in-depth look.  no filters no angles - just people. This is your chance to really meet and talk with the people behind the news in the most talked-about region in the world: the Hebron Mountain Range in the South West Bank. We’re going to pay a visit to a Palestinian Bedouin family AND Jewish settlers. Two different, separate worlds living door to door, fence to fence. We know this tour might be controversial, but we believe that borders do not exist between humans and that cultural exchange is the only way to build bridges between people. That’s what makes traveling a tool to change the world and make it a better place. This means interacting with both sides, without casting judgment. We trust that once you experience this tour you can decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and learn that things are more complex than they seem. This tour is led by Gilad Sade, an expert in travel to conflict zones all over the world, and who, himself, used to live on Mount Hebron.  Even if you’ve experienced many cultures on your travels, this tour will take you into the heart of one of the most unique societies in the Middle East and will give an insight into the lives of the locals. Hebron.   During the Ramadan month, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and break their fast with a meal called the Iftar. In the village we’ll visit everyone comes together, including the children and elderly, to pitch in and make sure the iftar is an incredible meal. Join us for this incredible activity! You will learn how the Palestinian Bedouins celebrate important occasions, taste their cuisine, and have a chance to learn about their life firsthand.   This is not your usual tourist meal - it’s a fully immersive cultural experience. The food will be made more delicious as you will eat it sitting on the floor with the family, eating with your hands, and learning about day to day life in the village.

Unfiltered Bedouin Experience

Brace yourself, because this is one heck of a cultural adventure! This is your chance to get close and personal with the nomads of the desert.  This is not a human safari, this is the real deal!   With this hospitality experience you will go deep into Bedouin territory; the desert that this ancient nomad culture calls home. The Bedouins have lived in the Middle East before it was called “Middle East” and they’ve preserved their traditional lifestyle over the centuries. Because the Bedouins are a fairly isolated community, the road to making this tour was a long one. After years of hard work and a lot of communication, we received the blessing of the Bedouin tribes, and started the best eco-tourism project in the Middle East.    Please note that the minimum group size for this experience is 6 people.
